Joanna Nerius – Violin

Joanna Nerius is a violinist and violist based in the Chicagoland area. She performs regularly with various ensembles including Camerata Chicago and the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, among others, and is active as a freelance musician across a variety of genres and settings. An advocate for music education, Joanna has been teaching violin and viola for over fifteen years. She currently serves on the faculty of Northside Music Academy and Glenbrook High Schools, where she teaches private lessons, and also maintains her own private studio. Joanna earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Northern Illinois University, where she studied with Mathias Tacke of the former Vermeer Quartet and graduated summa cum laude. She also studied viola with Anthony Devroye of the Avalon String Quartet. From 2017 to 2019, she was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the prestigious training orchestra of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
